Law Firms & Associations

Your attorneys are technically brilliant. Helping them lead, build their book, and avoid burnout is where I can help.

The skills that make your associates, counsel, and partners exceptional lawyers, such as rigor, technical mastery, and precision, are not the same skills that make them effective leaders, rainmakers, and sustainable contributors to your firm’s future. Without the right support, that gap creates real risk to your pipeline and bottom line.

You know the landscape: senior associates and new partners who bill brilliantly but struggle to delegate, give feedback, and develop juniors and mid-levels. Partners navigating origination pressure and generational differences they were never trained to lead across. High performers leave for in-house roles, other firms, or other professions entirely. What you need is a partner who can deliver meaningful change without adding to your plate.

I spent 24 years inside top Wall Street and Fortune 100 institutions, including Sullivan & Cromwell, American Express, Citi, and State Street, as a corporate lawyer and executive leader before becoming an ICF PCC-credentialed coach. I know what it’s like to operate on minimal sleep, navigate billable pressure and firm politics, and still not know where you stand, all while ensuring you don’t make a mistake. And from my years in-house, I know what clients actually look for when they hire and build relationships with outside counsel. That dual perspective is why Am Law 100 firms trust me with their senior associates, partners, and highest-potential talent, and invite me back.

Services

I work with firms on business development, leadership, outplacement, and wellbeing. Common areas of focus are helping your attorneys:

  • Originate, cross-sell, and build client relationships with confidence
  • Delegate strategically, give feedback that lands, manage across generations, and lead with emotional intelligence
  • Transition into their next role with clarity and ease
  • Self-regulate and manage their time and energy for sustainable performance

Coaching engagements for firms investing in individual attorneys at critical inflection points, such as: stepping into new or lateral partner roles, building a book or integrating into a practice, leading and delegating more effectively, navigating career transitions, and managing time and energy. Engagements are confidential, built around the attorney’s goals in alignment with the firm’s, and may include:

  • Goal alignment and high-level progress check-ins
  • 1:1 coaching sessions
  • Psychometric assessments (EQ-i 2.0)
  • Sponsor check-ins
  • Interview-style 360 feedback

Trusted by Leading Organizations

Kristen Hulse
Chief Talent Officer, Snell & Wilmer LLP

On the basis of a presentation Anjli Garg gave to Chief Talent Officers, which made a positive impact on my own professional self-awareness, we engaged Anjli to deliver a session on well-being for lawyers during Mental Health Awareness Month. Anjli covered all of what we had discussed previously and exceeded our expectations by her nimbleness in the moment, and by facilitating a deeper dive when the opportunity arose. Her framework for identifying resistance factors and how they connect to performance is easy to understand and provides a good opportunity for self-reflection. The real-time exercises were very useful, and Anjli’s clear explanations made the content accessible. She is a skilled facilitator, attuned to her audience, and reacts thoughtfully to participants’ questions and requests. We would be delighted to work with Anjli again.

Donatella Verrico
Chief Human Resources Officer, Lowenstein Sandler LLP

Anjli Garg presented a half day, in-person leadership workshop for 25 senior leaders at our firm centered on enhancing collaboration through conscious leadership. Anjli provided a balance of information and insights through interactive exercises and thoughtful knowledge sharing. While we have participated in collaboration and leadership presentations and exercises before, Anjli’s customized approach provided the group with a novel and refreshing approach to understanding how our leadership styles not only work for ourselves, but also complement each other. By understanding ourselves, and one another better, we can collaborate more easily to provide strength in leadership to our organization.

Mary Ellen LaRosa
Manager of Pipeline Initiatives & Education, New York City Bar Association

Anjli delivered a business development presentation as part of our office’s annual Associate Leadership Institute (ALI) series. This presentation garnered the most engagement I’ve seen for this particular subject across all of our institutes. Anjli took great care in tailoring the program to the audience and really captured the essence of this series — to speak the unspoken rules of the industry and empower associates to take charge of their career trajectory. She exceeds expectations, delivering relatable, detailed presentations. We look forward to continuing our work with Anjli.

Rachel Turow
Head of FDA Regulatory Practice, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP

Working with Anjli was transformative for my career. She helped me to understand what my greatest strengths are and how to best utilize them. She is kind, patient, and fun to work with, and she very much understands the challenge of navigating both corporate and law firm environments. I could not recommend her highly enough. I am in a much better place in my career after working with her and I am so grateful for her help in reaching this point.

Jeffrey Fromm
Co-Managing Partner, Lucendo LLP

I worked with Anjli regularly for about 6 months and my time with her was transformative. She is a rare combination of kind, insightful, positive, thought-provoking, and inspiring. While she was highly organized and structured, she was also able to adapt in an instant to any pressing concern or issue that warranted immediate focus. By the end of my first package of sessions, I had far greater clarity on my personal vision, values, strengths, weaknesses, and goals than I had ever had. By the end of my second package of sessions, I had executed a transition plan that was fully aligned with all that. I highly recommend Anjli to anyone, especially lawyers, who would enjoy the process of self-reflection (with a trusted guide) as well as the career benefits that come from better aligning one’s activities with his or her values and strengths.

Katie Day Winchenbach
Program Director, Ms.JD

Anjli led several webinars for Ms. JD and I was thoroughly impressed by her professionalism and expertise as a speaker. Anjli has a remarkable ability to share relatable information in a way that truly resonates with her audience. Her webinars were not only insightful but also engaging, and I found her to be an incredibly knowledgeable and articulate speaker. I would highly recommend Anjli to anyone seeking a speaker who can deliver valuable and relatable content in a professional and compelling manner.

My Approach

Most coaching and training for lawyers focuses on skills alone, such as feedback frameworks, BD templates, and delegation training. I focus on both skills, and the self-regulation that lets attorneys use them under pressure. Because the internal patterns driving stress reactivity, perfectionism, and overthinking can undermine even the best-trained skills. The result: attorneys who can actually perform when it counts.

SOS Framework™

Stabilize — Risk Mitigation
Dissolve the noise. The anxiety, doubt, and stress reactivity that silently distorts attorney judgment and creates execution risk. Because even a technically sound strategy won’t land if an attorney is operating from fear or avoidance.

Optimize — Internal Edge
Eliminate the internal push/pull. The beliefs, patterns, and self-doubt that make attorneys compete against their own interests. When your attorneys stop working against themselves, energy consolidates, presence sharpens, and decisions accelerate. Self-alignment isn’t soft. It’s a competitive advantage.

Strategize — External Execution
Convert internal clarity into precise, real-world execution. Scripts, sequencing, stakeholder strategy, role play, timing, messaging, and other concrete tools for the moments that matter: difficult conversations with partners or clients, BD outreach, feedback that lands, pitches to decision-makers.

LEGAL ASSOCIATIONS & ORGANIZATIONS

I partner with bar associations, affinity groups, and legal member organizations to design and deliver leadership programs, CLE content, coaching, and workshops that serve their members. One Example:

HNBA ELLA Leadership Program. Served as one of three coaches and facilitators for the Hispanic National Bar Association’s inaugural ELLA Leadership Program, a six-month program for mid-career Latina attorneys across firms, in-house, and government. Outcomes: 4.7/5 evaluation, 100% recommendation rate, promotions, and advancement into leadership positions.

FAQ

FAQ

What sets my work apart is the combination of four things:

  • Led by Lived Experience. 24 years of lived experience inside global, complex, matrixed firms and in-house legal departments, so your attorneys feel supported by someone who gets their world and can meet them where they are.
  • Trusted by Leading Firms. Trusted and invited back by premier firms and organizations, including Cahill Gordon & Reindel, Lowenstein Sandler, Snell & Wilmer, ACC, HNBA, and NYCBA.
  • Driven by a Proprietary Framework. An approach that goes beyond skills to address the deeper mindset and internal patterns, so that your lawyers can self-regulate and actually apply those skills under pressure.
  • Proven by Results. Consistent feedback that the work is practical, immediately implementable, and produces lasting change.

Executive coaching, leadership programs, and retreats are typically for more senior attorneys and partners. Workshops usually have participants across roles and offices. See the Services section above for more details.

Trust is foundational to the coaching relationship, both with the firm sponsor and the attorney being coached. Before we begin the engagement, we will align on confidentiality parameters among all relevant parties, so that everyone is clear on what is shared and what stays confidential.
